We check the entire mouth rather than the tooth that is bothering you, to identify cavities, decay or gum disease early. All of these are easier to treat when they are caught early, and considerably cheaper.
A professional cleaning removes plaque and tartar from the parts of the mouth that a toothbrush and floss cannot reach, using instruments made for it. You leave with a clean mouth and fresh breath, and with the ledge of tartar that was irritating your gums gone.
Oral cancer appears most often in the tongue, the lips or the floor of the mouth, but it can also show up in the gums, the salivary glands, the lining of the lips and cheeks, the roof of the mouth, or behind the wisdom teeth. Early detection offers the best chance of successful treatment, and the screening takes a minute.
Where something is not visible to the naked eye we use digital X‑rays. Results appear immediately and the dose is lower than traditional film. We also use the Tru-Image system to shield patients from unnecessary radiation.
